Weird because you're modest?

I got an email yesterday from a sister; i haven't replied sister sorry I was really tired, Insya'Allah I'll reply through this post.
Our sister told me about her first day with her hijab and how she was getting stares from strangers on the streets.

Co-incidentally, the same thing happened to me yesterday. I wasn't only in Hijab but I also in a black jilbab.
When I'm dressed like this, I usually leave my house in the evening or at night because anyway I dress up like that to go to the Masjid or for class.
So since class was early yesterday, I obviously had to leave home early. Hence, the unwanted attention.
I was standing at the traffic light and a young muslim non-hijabee neighbour came and stood beside me. Not to send me a salam or hold out a hand to shake but rather to fold her arms and stare at me and my dressing.
Not that I was really bothered anyway.

Then we went for dinner at Swensens after class (THANK YOU SIS NORAINI! :P) and the same thing happened not only to me but to the other 2 sisters that were with me as well. As we entered the restaurant, the attention of the customers were diverted to us; throwing us with dirty stares and facial expression.
Us being us, we were not bothered.

What is wrong in dressing up modestly?
What is weird in covering every inch of my body?

The reason why I'm getting those glares is because I'm not showing my assets and displaying my ornaments out of which are meant only for eyes of my mahram.

Sister, we all go through this stage. We all go through a stage of stares and glares. It's been close to 6 months that I'm with my Hijab Al7mdulillah but till now, I still face these ignorant people.

It goes back to your intention of the Hijab sister because if you are wearing it to please Allah swt then Insya'Allah sister, you'll get through this stage and see it as just another test out of which Allah swt is granting you strength. You're not alone in this trial sis, all your sisters in Islam are with you.

Be strong and Keep the Hijab on :)

assalamualaikum, i got that too. alott. well i juz wanna say that actually we look more humanly than the rest who wear mini skirts or super short shorts or sleeveless that shows off ur gross armpits, i dont care wether it is cleanly shave or noot but wearing tat totally makes me wanna puke. we are humans and we shud dress tthe way human beings do. we are not animals who hav no shame and walks naked. sometimes i said to mysef when seeing those girls who wear mini skirts or sleeveless, shirts tat pops out ur bellybutton i tink they shud forget bout wearing anything cos if u wanna wear then cover everything but if u just wanna wear those few inches or even cm of cloth then just walk around naked. easy, u are more sexy. huh

it seems you always notice and complain a lot when people are apparently 'staring' at you.

so what? it shouldn't bother you and what if they're 'staring' at you to figure out how you fixed your hijab or other good things?

seriously, don't doubt the intentions of others all the time.
