Just a piece of cloth over my head?

Okay no, before you think I'm going to go on and on about how there are some Hijabees who do not dress appropriately. I'm not.

I think alot and sometimes it's really bad for my self esteem; other times, it has helped me through my sea of issues. So I was on the bus to school when a Junior College student boarded the bus and sat beside me.

She was dressed like every other JC student, in a short skirt and a short blouse with a haversack and a shoe bag.

I remember how exactly about a year ago I was so disappointed that I could not get into a desired Junior College and how afraid I was to go to school in my Hijab. Now as I sit and look at the girl in her short skirt and blouse and I tried imagining myself in it, I could not.
It was impossible to imagine myself being stripped away of my Hijab, my haya'.

It's not just about the hair and the legs and the hands. It's the neck & the ears too.

I've covered myself all up for quite a long time now and I don't think there'd be any reason good enough to make me give it all up.
Not even education/work insha'Allah.

Because my Hijab is not just a piece of cloth over my head.

Hadeeth of the week;

From Abu Hurairah (radiyallaahu 'anhu) who said that Allaah's Messenger said:
"Whoever loves for Allaah and hates for Allaah, gives for Allaah and withholds for Allaah, then he has completed eemaan"

LOL, Joke.

The Voluntary Human Extinction Movement

VHEMT;

“May we live long and die out”
Phasing out the human race by voluntarily ceasing to breed will allow Earth’s biosphere to return to good health. Crowded conditions and resource shortages will improve as we become less dense.

This has to be the best joke ever.
It's so funny, I can't stop laughing.

Have you not heard?

Head of Venezuela's top legal body has lashed out at President Barack Obama for his undelivered vows of change in US policy.

The Venezuelan National Assembly President, Cilia Flores, strongly criticized Obama for failing to overrule former President George W. Bush's doctrines of war, adding that Obama's administration is "worse" than his predecessor's.

She slammed the US for following in Bush's 'footsteps' in "installing" military bases in South America under the pretext of combating organized crime, a reference to the recent stationing of US troops in seven Colombian military camps.

"When we thought there couldn't be anything worse than Bush" along came Obama "masked" as the "hero of the film" who emerged as “more of the same,” the Latin American Herald Tribune quoted her as saying on Wednesday.

Obama had repeatedly spoken of major changes in US foreign diplomacy, but his failure to bring about the overhaul in America's international relations policy has drawn fire from critics worldwide.

Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez once referred to the improbability of significant change in Washington's policy and implied that the "young black" man, meaning Obama, would be taken over by the "Washington Establishment."

But I said "NO!"

I don't know about you but I hate the word "no". If I could, I'd launch a campaign to say NO to "no".
No, really.

Has it occurred unto that ever since you were a kid, you are always told what you are not supposed to do but never the things that you should do.
I know of a brother who just embraced Islam and he's getting sick and tired of people who keep telling him the things that are forbidden in Islam.

I was talking to him the other day and he went
"Sis I hate it. All i hear is "Brother, this is haram! Brother that is haram!" Then what the hell is halal if everything is haram?!"

And I totally get him.
Why is it that Muslims can't approach things from a more positive point of view. You cannot force the new Muslims to get used to the Haram stuff immediately. Do you not get it?! You cannot force them to start praying 5 times a day immediately. Do you not get it?!

They should want to stop doing the Haram and practice the Halal on their own accord. All we need to do is INFORM them and guide them and that's IT.
Our job is done. After which, buzz the hell off before you get on their nerves and make them leave Islam!

Sheesh, people, you gotta start using your brains. Really, if you're thinking screaming "Haram" everywhere you go is "da'wah"; then for God's sake, think again.

Heavens!

The High Status of Imaan

For everything that we do, it starts with an intention. Our intention to contribute to a certain group of people; to the country, the family, the community etc or our intentions to fulfil our desires.

Imam Anwar Al-Awlaki said in one of his lectures that the high status of Imaan is when one does everything for the sake of Allah swt; to feel useless to the point that everything that he has belongs to Allah swt, to believe that all is by His will and commands.

To love, to hate for the sake of Allah swt.

How many of us are able to love someone not because of the worldly gains that we benefit from them rather, because of the fact that Allah loves him (Someone that is close to Allah subhana’Allah Ta’ala.)?

How many of us are able to hate someone not because he brings worldly harm to us rather because we know that he does things that goes against the teachings of Allah subhana’Allah ta’ala and His Prophet Salallahu alayhi wassalam?

Ponder upon that line InshaAllah.
