Second Class, Double Standards, Oppressed.
Whenever these words are mentioned, many would associate them with the African-Americans, the Jews and most commonly used as an attack to the new media's current victim - Muslim Women.
Have they no understanding of the words "Choice", "Liberation" and "Devotion" ?
They poison the public's minds with connotations that depict the idea of something so beautiful - modesty to be something so ugly and discriminating - oppressive.
This recent uproar about the ban of the Niqaab and Burka in France is just another one of their steps to abolish the beautiful practice of women in Islam. They start with the Niqaab with the excuse that it is a threat to the social cohesion of the society. They degrade the value of a head scarf that is purely the symbol of modesty and high regard and respect for women to something that is seen as oppressive and disregard Muslim women as part of the social fabric.
It's disgusting to know how a simple choice that a Muslim woman has made to cover herself with intentions of pleasing her Lord and fulfilling her responsibilities towards her Creator becomes something that is seen as socially disgraceful and offensive.
My dear sisters,
It is at times like this that we understand the importance of putting our whole trust into the Shahadah that we have taken from the very beginning of our lives as a Muslim and the one testimony that we repeat day in and day out out of confirmation for our belief of the One and Only & His messenger.
It is at times like this that we put aside our personal differences and unite as an Ummah.
They can treat us as second class citizens and with double standards. They can go on and on about how Islam oppresses us but we know for ourselves that Islam is the one true way of life that completes us in every aspect of this dunya that we live in for nothing but the absolute best for the akhirah.
So stay true to your Shahadah for Allah is with those who are patient.
A'qilah Saiere
